The Nifty 50 index is trading just shy of the 25,600 level, sparking discussions about whether the benchmark can sustain its upward momentum without a fresh catalyst. After a steady rally over the past few sessions, market analysts particularly SEBI-registered advisors are now urging caution, citing the need for new triggers to maintain the bullish sentiment.

The recent surge in Nifty has been largely driven by foreign institutional investment (FII) inflows, strong corporate earnings in select sectors, and relatively stable global cues. The optimism was further reinforced by easing inflation and hopes of interest rate cuts from global central banks. However, analysts warn that these factors may already be priced in.

"While the sentiment remains positive, the index is facing stiff resistance at 25,600. We need a fresh fundamental or macroeconomic push to break above this level convincingly," said Ramesh Iyer, a SEBI-registered investment advisor. He emphasized that without such a driver, the market may enter a consolidation phase.

Among possible triggers that could fuel a further rally, experts point to upcoming earnings announcements, progress on policy reforms by the government, or favorable developments from global markets such as a dovish stance by the U.S. Federal Reserve. Additionally, domestic cues like improvement in high-frequency economic indicators could also act as catalysts.

Sectoral performance remains mixed. While banking and FMCG stocks have lent support to the rally, IT and pharma remain under pressure amid valuation concerns and global headwinds. "Stock selection will be key in this phase. Broader market participation is essential for the rally to sustain," added Neha Malhotra, another SEBI RA.

From a technical standpoint, the Nifty has formed a short-term base near the 25,200–25,300 range. A decisive close above 25,600 with strong volume may pave the way for a move towards 26,000, analysts note. However, if the index fails to cross this level, a pullback cannot be ruled out.

Investors are advised to tread cautiously, keep stop-losses in place, and avoid over-leveraging. Most importantly, market participants should closely watch both domestic policy developments and global cues in the coming days.

In summary, while the Nifty's recent gains are encouraging, the index now stands at a critical juncture. Without a compelling new trigger, sustaining the rally could prove challenging.
