EgyptAir Expands Fleet with Six New Airbus A350-900 Jets

EgyptAir has confirmed an order for six additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, marking a strategic expansion in its widebody fleet to meet growing demand for long-haul travel. The announcement was made during the Farnborough International Airshow 2025, where global aviation leaders gathered to showcase new technologies and sign major deals.

The A350-900 is known for its fuel efficiency, range, and passenger comfort, making it a favored choice among international carriers. With this latest order, EgyptAir is signaling its commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing operational efficiency. The new aircraft will join the airline’s existing fleet of Airbus models and are expected to be deployed on key intercontinental routes, including destinations in North America, Asia, and Europe.

Yehia Zakaria, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, stated that the airline is focused on achieving a greener future for aviation. “The A350-900 will support our sustainability goals by reducing fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25% compared to older models. This step is vital as we align with Egypt’s national environmental agenda and global carbon reduction targets.”

Airbus also expressed enthusiasm about the deal. Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, noted, “We are proud to support EgyptAir’s ambitious growth plans. The A350 is the perfect aircraft to offer both efficiency and a premium passenger experience.”

The order comes at a time when EgyptAir is experiencing a rebound in international travel following the pandemic. The airline has been focusing on expanding its global footprint while also improving its customer service and on-board offerings. The A350-900’s spacious cabin, advanced lighting systems, and quieter engines will significantly enhance the flying experience for EgyptAir passengers.

Delivery of the new aircraft is expected to begin in late 2026, with all six jets scheduled to be in service by 2028. EgyptAir’s total A350-900 orders now stand at 12, indicating a strong long-term vision for fleet renewal and expansion.

With the addition of the A350-900, EgyptAir positions itself as a competitive player in the Middle Eastern and African aviation markets. The move not only strengthens its fleet but also helps the airline align with international standards for efficiency and sustainability.
