The dYdX Foundation and 21Shares recently held an inaugural analyst call to discuss the protocol's performance, expanding institutional bridges, and an ambitious roadmap extending into 2026. This collaboration underscores the increasing maturity of decentralized finance (DeFi) and its growing appeal to traditional financial markets. Charles d'Haussy, CEO of the dYdX Foundation, highlighted the protocol’s substantial growth, noting a cumulative trading volume exceeding $1.5 trillion, which signifies that decentralized infrastructure is no longer experimental but an essential component of the financial ecosystem. This remarkable performance showcases dYdX's leadership in the decentralized derivatives space, which has seen weekly on-chain volumes consistently surpass $100 billion. The protocol's design, which combines a validator hosted order book for low latency with decentralized resilience, ensures a trading experience comparable to centralized exchanges (CEXs). A key component of this success is the tokenomics model, which distributes rewards in USDC rather than inflationary emissions, alongside a systematic buyback program designed to reinforce the value of the DYDX token.

One of the most significant announcements from the call was the recent launch of the 21Shares DYDX ETP 📈. This is a groundbreaking product that serves as the first listed instrument to provide regulated exposure to the DYDX token. The ETP is 100% physically backed, requiring the custody of underlying tokens and thereby reducing the circulating supply. For institutional investors, this product acts as a crucial bridge, allowing them to gain exposure to the rapidly growing on-chain derivatives market through a familiar, regulated structure. Maximiliaan Michielsen, Investment Strategist at 21Shares, emphasized this point, stating that the ETP bridges one of the fastest growing segments of DeFi with traditional markets in a transparent and investor friendly way. This development is seen as a sign of DeFi assets maturing into viable, investable products, following a trajectory similar to the early days of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETPs.

The analyst call also laid out a detailed roadmap for dYdX's expansion through 2026, targeting both institutional and retail adoption. The plan includes the launch of spot trading, which will begin with Solana integration to provide global access. They also announced the introduction of perpetuals for real world assets (RWAs), starting with synthetic equity exposures such as Tesla 🚗. To enhance the user experience for a broader audience, dYdX plans to roll out Telegram-based trading and simplify onboarding with social logins. Other protocol improvements, such as the introduction of designated proposers and an order entry gateway, are expected to further streamline the CEX-like trading experience. These strategic initiatives, coupled with integrations like the one with Crypto.com's on-chain wallet and the $20 million dYdX Surge Incentive Program, position the protocol to significantly expand its user base and consolidate its market leadership. The call concluded with a clear message: dYdX is poised to be one of the best positioned protocols in global DeFi, driven by sustainable tokenomics, institutional grade integrations, and a robust plan for retail expansion.
